"First Place" is a phrase my sister Michelle LaGasse would always say to me, when we're working on a project. Then, we would both laugh, because it's inevitable that there are subjective arena's you really can't ever expect to place 1st in. That's not why we say it. It's just to make sure we are encouraging each other to aim high & most important, to follow through all the way to the end on what it is you have committed to do. No matter what obstacles may come against you, don't give up.

 

It was just 6 weeks before the 2006 Ms. Bikini America Pageant & my husband & I had just moved to Nashville. For the 1st time in 25 years, I left Florida for good. I left my family, my mother who was just diagnosed with cancer & I had to start all over. I didn't let the stress of moving away, starting over & knowing my mom was sick with cancer get the best of me. I followed through with my training, went to the show hoping to just make the top ten & I left as the Champion. 1st place!

 

 In 2008, I signed up to run the 1/2 Marathon in the Country Music Marathon. I was able to raise over 2,000.00$ for the Leuhkemia & Lymphoma Society. When I crossed that finish line, I was so proud of myself. I felt like First Place. Because I had done that in memory of my mom, who had passed away June 8th, 2007, and for kids with cancer and the highlight...I did it 8 weeks pregnant!

 

I like a challenge. And even more, I like when I have to follow through on a challenge all on my own. I've always enjoyed training by myself. It takes serious will power to do so.
